If you would like to join the Nigerian Navy, then this recruitment is for you. The Nigerian Navy has officially begun the recruitment process for Batch 37 of its Basic Training School. According to an announcement by the Navy Secretary, the online registration commences on 15 November 2024 and will close on 20 December 2024.
Nigerian Navy Basic Training School Recruitment 2024
The aim of this exercise is to enlist only qualified Nigerians who will undergo basic military training and subsequently join the service as Ordinary Seamen. As such, the agency has promised that this will be a fair transparent recruitment. Nigerian Navy recruitment for 2024 only considers candidates by merit.
Applicants are encouraged NOT to make payment to anyone who promises them the job. Nobody is authorised sell slots to any person. If caught, as a consequence, the applicant will be disqualified and both the applicant and slot vendor could be handed over to the authorities.
Nigerian Navy Basic Training School Recruitment Requirements
The Nigerian Navy emphasised that all applicants must meet specific requirements to be considered for enlistment. These include:
- Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth and possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN).
- Height measurements must be a minimum height of 1.69 metres for males and 1.65 metres for females.
- Candidates must be medically, psychologically, and physically fit.
- Applicants must be free of any criminal convictions.
- O’Level/SSCE Holders must be between 18 and 22 years old by 31 December 2024. A minimum of five credits, including Mathematics and English, in not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB is required. Results must not be older than 2018.
- OND/NCE Holders should be between 18 and 26 years old.
- Tradesmen candidates for professions such as tailoring, carpentry, plumbing, and welding must possess relevant Trade Test certificates. They must also have at least a credit in English and four passes in other subjects in WAEC, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB not older than 2014.
- Applicants in the categories of Chaplain/Imam Assistants and Drivers/Mechanics should be between 18 and 28 years old.
- Applicants for medical-related professions must hold an ND from recognised institutions in Nigeria and have a valid practising licence.
- Sports applicants must provide evidence of experience, such as certificates and medals.
How to Apply for Nigerian Navy Basic Training School Recruitment
Interested and eligible candidates can apply free of charge via the official website: www.joinnigeriannavy.com. Applicants are allowed only one valid application, as multiple submissions will result in disqualification. Upon completing the online application, candidates must print the following documents: Acknowledgement Form, Parent/Guardian Consent Form, Local Government Attestation Form (signed by a military officer of at least the rank of Commander in the Nigerian Navy or an equivalent officer in the Armed Forces of Nigeria, or by a Local Government Chairman) and Guarantor’s Certification Form.
The Attestation Form must include the signee’s passport photograph and a photocopy of their Driver’s Licence, International Passport, or National ID Card. The signee is also required to authenticate the applicant’s passport photograph.
When is the Aptitude Test Date?
A nationwide recruitment aptitude test is scheduled to take place on 18 January 2025 at designated centres. The Nigerian Navy reiterated that all stages of the recruitment process are free of charge. Applicants are cautioned against making payments to anyone claiming to facilitate the process.
The Nigerian Navy considers English as its language of communication. Therefore, applicants who fail to communicate in basic English will face disqualification at any stage of the process.
