The Police Service Commission (PSC), in partnership with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has officially announced the commencement of recruitment for 10,000 Police Constables and Specialists. Interested Nigerians are invited to submit their applications online over the next six (6) weeks.
The online portal is now open to both male and female applicants who meet the stipulated qualifications. This recruitment exercise provides an opportunity for patriotic individuals with a passion for a career in law enforcement to join the Nigeria Police Force.
Nigeria Police Force Recruitment 2024
This recruitment targets 10,000 constables and specialists, and the PSC has promised that it will be a free, fair and transparent process. Candidates will be considered from all the states in Nigeria as long as they meet the requirements. Therefore, those who are both passionate in police service and interested in this civil service job are encouraged to apply. All successful candidates will then be introduced into mainstream policing and deployed to their various states of origin in line with the Federal Government’s community policing scheme.
All updates regarding this recruitment exercise will be communicated through the official portal. The recruitment process is entirely FREE. Also, applicants are advised to avoid any person or entity asking for payment for assistance to get them the job.
Nigeria Police Recruitment Requirements
To ensure eligibility, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth and possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN).
- A minimum of five credits, including English and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, or equivalent examinations. Results from examinations conducted before 2015 will not be accepted.
- Applicants must be aged between 18 and 25 years.
- Candidates must be medically, physically, and psychologically fit. Male applicants must be at least 1.67 metres tall, while female applicants must be at least 1.64 metres tall.
- Male candidates must have a minimum expanded chest measurement of 86 cm (34 inches).
- Female applicants must not be pregnant at the time of entry.
- Candidates must be free from financial embarrassment and must not have any criminal convictions.
- A valid email address and phone number are required.
How to Apply for Nigeria Police Recruitment
Prospective applicants are directed to visit the official recruitment portal at www.apply.policerecruitment.gov.ng. Upon accessing the portal, applicants are to complete the online application form, upload scanned copies of their SSCE, Birth Certificates, and Certificates of Origin, print out the completed online form and guarantor form, and submit these documents during the physical screening exercise.
The Nigeria Police recruitment process includes several stages that are put in place to ensure transparency and merit-based selection. There are majorly 3 stages, which are explained below, and applicants must be prepared for all these stages to be employed.
1. Automated Physical/Credentials Screening
Only applicants who meet the online registration requirements will be invited for physical and credentials screening. This exercise will be conducted nationwide, and the exact date will be announced later. Candidates must present the originals of the following documents:
- Educational certificates.
- Birth certificates or declarations of age.
- Medical fitness evidence from a recognised government hospital.
- Evidence of good character from a village or district head.
- Indigene certificate signed by the local government chairman or secretary.
- Guarantor form endorsed by a public servant not below Grade Level 13, a police officer of rank CSP or higher, or an equivalent rank from the armed forces or paramilitary services.
2. Aptitude Test
Applicants who successfully complete the physical screening will undergo a computer-based aptitude test. The date and venue for the test will be communicated via the portal.
3. Medical Screening
Candidates who pass the aptitude test will proceed to an automated medical screening exercise. This stage will take place at the 17 designated Police Zonal Medical Centres.
Only successful candidates will undergo the police training programme combining academic and physical elements. This programme is designed to prepare recruits for their roles as Police Constables in the Nigeria Police Force.
This is an opportunity to serve Nigeria and contribute to national security. But please take note that you can only submit your online application ONCE. Those who submit multiple applications will be disqualified.
