The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has announced the commencement of recruitment into the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), formerly known as Nigerian Prison Service (NPS). The aim of this recruitment is to bring in qualified people to fill various vacancies across different cadres within the Service. Interested and qualified Nigerians are invited to apply for these full-time positions.
Nigeria Correctional Service Recruitment 2024
There are many cadre positons available, from senior to junior levels. However, there are three major categories from A to C. Category A: Superintendent Cadre, includes Superintendent of Corrections (SC) Medical (CONMESS 02) position, which requires applicants to possess M.B.B.S, M.D, M.D.S, or equivalent qualifications from recognised universities. We also have Superintendent of Corrections (SC) Veterinary (CONMESS 02) (candidates must hold D.V.M from recognised institutions, Deputy Superintendent of Corrections (DSC) Pharmacy (CONHESS 09) (requires a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from a recognised university), Assistant Superintendent of Corrections I (ASC.I) (CONPASS 09) (must have a Master’s degree in disciplines such as Humanities, Social Sciences, Laboratory Sciences, Architecture, Engineering, or Radiology), and Assistant Superintendent of Corrections II (ASC.II) (CONPASS 08), which requires first degree in fields like Humanities, Social Sciences, Psychology, Public Health, Estate Management, Town Planning, or Food Sciences is required.
There are also positions in Category B: Inspectorate Cadre, including Senior Inspector of Corrections (SIC) (CONPASS 08) (applicants must hold HND certificates in disciplines such as Estate Management, Town Planning, Public Health, Food Sciences, or Social Work from recognised polytechnics), Inspector of Corrections (IC) Nursing (CONHESS 06) (requires candidates to be Registered Nurses (RN), Registered Midwives (RM), or Registered Nurses/Midwives (RNM)), and Assistant Inspector of Corrections (AIC) (CONPASS 06), which requires OND or NCE qualifications from recognised institutions are required.
Category C: Assistant Cadre includes Corrections Assistant I (CAI) (CONPASS 05) position (must have GCE O’Level, SSCE/NECO, or equivalent with at least five credits, including English and Mathematics, or Trade Test Grade I in various trades such as Plumbing, Carpentry, or Mechanics.), Corrections Assistant II (CAII) (CONPASS 04) (GCE O’Level, SSCE/NECO, or equivalent with five credits, including English, or Trade Test Grade II in relevant trades), and Corrections Assistant III (CA.III) (CONPASS 03), which requires candidates to have GCE O’Level, SSCE/NECO, or equivalent with three credits, including English or Mathematics, or Trade Test Grade III in relevant trades.
Nigeria Correctional Service Recruitment Requirements
NCoS Applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Be Nigerian by birth.
- Be aged between 18 and 30 years.
- Possess all necessary qualifications and certificates, which must be presented at the recruitment centre.
- Provide medical fitness certificates from government-recognised hospitals.
- Be of good character and have no criminal convictions.
- Not be affiliated with any secret societies, cults, or drug-related activities.
- Be financially stable.
- Meet height requirements of 1.65m for males and 1.60m for females.
- Male applicants must have a chest measurement of at least 0.87m.
- Computer literacy will be an added advantage.
How to Apply for Nigeria Correctional Service Recruitment
Applications are to be submitted online via the official portal: https://cdcfib.career. Applicants are advised to complete the form accurately and print out the referee forms for submission during the screening exercise.
But take NOTE that the application process is FREE of charge. Also, multiple applications will result in disqualification. So, those who apply more than once will be disqualified automatically.
Conclusion
Applications will close six weeks from the publication date in September 2024. According to the CDCFIB Secretary, all applications must be completed and submitted within the given six-week period.
