Executive Board Members
NKECHIKWU AZINGE – Founder
Nkechi is a lawyer by profession and the founder of the Sickle Cell Aid Foundation (SCAF), Nigeria. Over the years SCAF has focused on two key areas: raising awareness on sickle cell disorder (SCD) and ensuring that indigent warriors living with SCD have access to quality healthcare and education. Additionally, she is the co-founder of Haima Health Initiative, which leverages on technology to match blood donors with beneficiaries in real-time. Her team’s work gained her an award of recognition by Queen Elizabeth II (the Queen’s Young Leaders Award) and a spot on the Commonwealth Youth Achievers’ list in 2015.
In 2017, she was listed among the most inspiring Women in Nigeria by Leading Ladies, Nigeria. Nkechi studied Law at University of Leicester, United Kingdom and did an LLM in International Economic Law at the University of Warwick where she graduated with a distinction. She proceeded to undertake a PhD at the University of Warwick. During her doctoral studies, Nkechi doubled as a Teaching Assistant in Business Law and Financial Regulation. She is currently a law Lecturer.
Elmer Aluge – President
As President of Sickle Cell Aid Foundation, Just like her predecessors she worked her way through the ranks creating and executing anchor projects over the years. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in General biology from Troy University, Alabama USA (2014 recipient of the Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges) and is currently pursuing an MBA in strategic management. She consults for various organizations and currently manages Events and Programs at a reputable Nigerian management consulting Firm.
She believes that volunteering shouldn’t be limiting, it should awaken ones passion to boost productivity, a motto she has utilized in managing her team. Her current interests are policy development, government inclusion and improved Health care management in the Sickle Cell Disorder space.
Yejide Adewakun – Vice President Admin and Legal Adviser
Yejide is a lawyer with a bachelor of Laws Degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria and a Master’s degree in International Corporate Governance and Financial Regulation from the University of Warwick with an upper two percentile distinction position. Her experience in business establishment advisory including foreign investment in Nigeria and in the operation of businesses and compliance obligations across various sectors in Nigeria has provided her with knowledgeable skillset. She provides corporate governance advice and maintains secretarial portfolios for numerous clients. Within SCAF, her skills as a lawyer coupled with a passion for humanity has caused her to be proactive in management policy.
Victor Oyoyo – Medical Unit Coordinator
Dr. Victor Oyoyo is a Medical Doctor with a graduate degree of Medicine and Surgery from Madonna University and an MSD from University of Abuja. He has years of experience in both Clinical and Non-clinical medicine (Health finance and Insurance) which he applies to his current job with the Federal Government of Nigeria. He volunteers currently for Sickle Cell Aid Foundation as the Coordinator of the medical unit and is passionate about getting proper and focused healthcare for those living with Sickle Cell Anaemia and creating awareness about the health condition.
Scott Adamu – Public health specialist
Her epidemiology experience spans 10 years with involvement coordinating and managing programs in the development space for various disease areas. She holds a master’s degree in Public health from the University of Benin and a Bachelor’s in Medical laboratory science with a major in Hematology and Blood group astrology. She spearheads proposal and grant writing for SCAF, including surveys for the foundation. She was a major contributor to the Comic relief grant recently won by SCAF
