Federal Teachers Scheme Recruitment

·

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has announced the commencement of recruitment into the Federal Teachers’ Scheme (FTS) for 2024. As an individual interested in the teaching profession, this is an opportunity to become part of it at the federal level. UBEC is very clear that this exercise will be fair, transparent and based on merit. This recruitment exercise is a chance for passionate teaching professionals to work in public secondary schools across all Nigerian states. Both young graduates and experienced professionals are encouraged to submit their applications online.

UBEC Federal Teachers Scheme 2024

The Federal Teachers’ Scheme was created to improve the quality of basic education in Nigeria. Through this initiative, unemployed holders of the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) are engaged for a two-year teaching service in public basic education schools. These schools include Early Childhood Care Development and Education (ECCDE), primary schools, and junior secondary schools.

UBEC has stated that the 2024 recruitment aims to address the shortage of qualified teachers in several critical subject areas. After a thorough evaluation of existing needs, the Commission is opening teaching vacancies for dedicated and qualified people to fill these gaps.

UBEC assures that the recruitment process will be based strictly on merit. The Commission emphasises equal opportunities for all applicants, regardless of background, while prioritising the improvement of Nigeria’s education system. Teachers are required in the following subjects: English Studies, Mathematics, Science, Vocational Studies, Computer Science, Special Education, Early Childhood Education, and Nigerian and Foreign Languages.

As such, if you have the qualifications or expertise in any of these subject areas, do well to submit your applications. UBEC is looking forward to it as only eligible applicants will be considered.

Federal Teachers Scheme Recruitment Requirements

To apply, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a Nigerian citizen.
  • Be currently unemployed.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education or a Bachelor’s degree with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).
  • Have a qualification not lower than a Second Class (Lower Division).
  • Have completed or been exempted from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

How to Apply for Federal Teachers Scheme Recruitment

Interested and eligible candidates are required to visit the official UBEC recruitment portal at https://ubec.gov.ng. Applicants should select the teaching position that matches their academic qualifications and complete the online application form. Necessary documents, including academic credentials, must be uploaded during the application process. After submission, applicants should print their application slips.

Please take note that the application is free of charge. Applicants are advised not to pay anyone for assistance. The Nigerian federal government is taking the fight against job racketeering very seriously, and is not leaving any room for people to buy employment slots. Candidates caught will be disqualified and handed over to the authorities.

The application portal will close two weeks from the date of this announcement. Make sure to register with your personal and academic qualifications early. But before the submission of applications, the Commission is advising candidates to make sure to review their information carefully before clicking on the submit button. No multiple registrations will be allowed from any candidate.

FTS Screening and Selection Process

After the application window closes, shortlisted candidates will be invited for a screening exercise. This will include a Computer-Based Test (CBT) and an interview. The CBT is scheduled for October 10, 2024, and will take place at designated centres in all state capitals.

Only successful candidates will be selected to participate in the Federal Teachers’ Scheme, which will help contribute to the development of Nigeria’s education sector through quality teaching services. In their own interests, candidates should make it a habit to return to SCAF.org.ng for FTS updates as the exercise process is being covered here.
